Wiltz has had a fortress since medieval times, but the present castle in the upper part of the town dates from the 17th Century. It was a boarding school in the 19th Century. After damage during World War 11, it has been restored. Of the earlier buildings, the `Witches Tower` dates back to 1573. Part of the present castle houses museums, including a Battle of the Bulge museum. A music festival takes place in the grounds in July.
