The French fortress builder Sebastien le Prestre de Vauban seized the fortress of Luxembourg from the Spaniards in 1684. With the help of 3,000 workers, he reconstructed the fortress and built new walls and forts. On this walk. that starts from the Bock Promontory, you can visit the remains of his defence works, including the Vauban Towers and Fort Thungen. It is a circular route and a detailed leaflet is available from the city tourist office.
