This is a signposted tour that guides the visitor through farm and woodland with views of seven castles. It is a beautiful drive but most castles cannot be visited. The tour starts at Mersch, north of Luxembourg, and follows the Eisch river. One castle, Schoenfels, is in the Mamer Valley. The castle at Hollenfels dates from the 14th Century and it is now a youth hostel. Ansembourg has two castles, medieval and modern, whilst privately owned Septfontaines Castle has been rebuilt. Ruined Koerich castle is open to visitors.
