The cloister of the Trinitarian Church is considered to be one of the most ancient Gothic cloisters between Vianden and the Rhine. The Trinitarians founded a monastery here in 1248, and the monks wore white coats with a red and blue cross. One third of the monastery`s income was used to free prisoners in the Holy Land but, in 1783, the monastery was abolished by the emperor of Austria and later sold by auction. By the 1950s, the cloister was in ruins but its splendid ribbed vaults and lancet arches have now been restored.
