Perched on a hill in Echternach, the Church of St Peter and St Paul is sited on Roman remains and it has a 46 foot well that dates from that period. Part of the church`s foundations are from the Merovingian age. In the 10th and 12th Centuries a three naved church with a crypt and two towers was built here, and it was extended in the 15th Century. Late Gothic paintings are on the vaulted ceilings. The church was restored in the mid 20th Century.
