Located in the abbey`s cellars, the museum`s exhibition includes facsimiles of beautifully illuminated manuscripts. The tiny illustrations usually accompanied religious text in prestigious books. During the medieval period, Echternach abbey was known for the exquisite work of its scriptorium. The museum also explains the history of the abbey. There is an exhibition about the life and work of St Willibrord who was born in Northumbria in 658 AD and founded an abbey in Echternach.
