About a mile north of Vianden, the Our Valley is crossed by a 100 foot dam that serves the electric power station. There are two reservoirs at different levels and electricity is generated by turbines when water gushes down from the higher basin. When demand is low, water is pumped up from the lower reservoir to the higher one. The power station is connected to the western European network. Tourists can visit the gallery where the technical operation is explained through display panels and models.
