Located in the heart of Echternach, this charming, medieval, market place is surrounded by ancient buildings whose facades and arcades have been carefully restored. In the square is the Gothic `Denzalt`, the old courthouse which was the magistrate`s court. It also served as a prison, a barracks for the police and later a schoolroom. Nearby is the Old Town Hall, a late Gothic building which dates from the 15th and 16th Centuries.
