After the invasion of their country by the Nazi army on the 10th of May 1940, many Luxembourg people organised a resistance movement. The Grand Duchy had a neutral status but this was ignored. On the announcement of forced conscription, there was a general strike. Many young Luxembourgers were forced to join Hitler`s army. Both men and women who resisted were sent to concentration camps and prisons. Thousands of Luxembourg people lost their lives. The Museum`s exhibition explores the endeavours of Luxembourg people to maintain their freedom.
