This museum is located on the Fish Market in the heart of the oldest part of the city. Extended and refurbished in the early 21st Century, the museum`s exhibits are arranged in chronological order on ten floors. New underground galleries display the archaeological collections, dating from pre-historic times. The exhibits include Roman objects, medieval collections, coins, medals, items relating to the fortress, period rooms, classical and modern art. In the art gallery are two watercolours of the old town of Luxembourg by J.M.W. Turner.
