The village of Koerich is situated at the entrance to the valley of the Eisch, the Valley of the Seven Castles. In the centre of the village are the remains of a castle that dates from the middle of the 13th Century. It once had a huge tower, about 80 feet high with walls ten feet thick. The castle had a moat and drawbridge. Although rebuilt several times, it eventually became too costly to maintain and it was deserted.
