Located in the upper town, this panoramic plateau offers superb views of the Petrusse and Alzette valleys as well as the lower town known as the Grund. An abbey was founded here in the 13th Century, and defences built later linked it to the city. The French military fortress builder Vauban recognised its defensive potential, and expanded the site by building a citadel and barracks and strengthening the walls. From the plateau, a lift in the cliff can be taken to the Grund.
