Built in the 1960s to mark the millennium of the city of Luxembourg, the theatre was designed by the Parisian architect Alain Bourbonnais. Many other European countries have played a part in the building and furnishing of this comparatively new theatre. Since then it has been renovated. Major concert artists from all over the world are presented as well as those from Luxembourg. The theatre is a venue for opera, dance (ballet and modern) and drama in different languages.
