Originally built as the town hall in the 1570s when the Spaniards ruled Luxembourg, the building`s facade reflects the Spanish-Moorish style. Since then many changes have taken place and the building has been extended. It was extensively restored in the 1990s. During the late 19th Century the royal family took up residence, but the palace is now used mainly for business, formal receptions and entertaining. Enquiries about guided tours should be made at the City Tourist Office.
