Now a centre for contemporary art,Casino Luxembourg was built in the 1890s and soon became a place where all kinds of socialising took place, as well as gambling. Cabaret shows, masked balls and conferences were held in the large halls. The state purchased the historic building in the mid 20th Century and since 1990 it has been used as a forum where today`s artists present their work. There are also concerts with contemporary music.
