Bourglinster Castle stands high above the rooftops of the little hamlet bearing its name. Evidence suggests there may have been a castle here as long ago as the 10th century. For several centuries it belonged to the Lords of Linster. During the 15th Century, the castle was extended and strengthened by additional walls and moats, but it was attacked by the French in 1667 and partly destroyed. Luxembourg State took over the fortress in 1969 and restored it. This fine castle now houses a restaurant and it is a venue for various cultural events.
